Molasses Ginger Cookies

***FIRST PLACE AT THE SPENCERVILLE FAIR 2023**
These cookies are everything we love about gingerbread, but easier to make!

 

Ingredients:

2 CUPS WHITE SUGAR

1 CUP SHORTENING

1/2 CUP MOLASSES

2 EGGS

3 1/2 CUPS FLOUR

2 TSP BAKING SODA

2 TSP GINGER

1 TSP CLOVES

1 TSP CINNAMON

 

IN A LARGE BOWL, CREAM TOGETHER SUGAR AND SHORTENING UNTIL FLUFFY.

ADD EGGS AND MOLASSES, BEAT WELL. 

ADD DRY INGREDIENTS, SMALL AMOUNTS AT A TIME, MIXING WELL.

FORM INTO 1" BALLS, ROLL IN SUGAR

PLACE ON AN UN-GREASED COOKIE SHEET 2" APART.

BAKE AT 350 DEGREES FOR 15 MINUTES OR UNTIL BOTTOM OF COOKIES ARE LIGHT BROWN.
