Shortcake for Berries

This shortcake recipe is from my Grandma Gertie (better known has GG), and has been a favourite in our family for many years. I’m so happy to share it with you!

Shortcake For Berries Recipe

Ingredients:

1½ cups all-purpose flour

½ cup white sugar

3 tsp baking powder

1 pinch of salt

½ cup milk

1 egg

Directions:

  1. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl and set aside.
  2. Combine the milk and egg and mix well.
  3. Add the milk and egg mixture to the dry ingredients.
  4. Pour mixture into one 8” round baking pan.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  6. Let cool, top with whipped cream and your favourite berries and enjoy! This recipe freezes well if you want to make ahead and save for a later time.

Treat your guests with a yummy and fresh dessert! Don’t forget to add this recipe to your recipe book so you can save it for later!

can you put fruit(saskatoons, rhubarb, peach) in the bottom and bake like a cobbler?

Donna
