This shortcake recipe is from my Grandma Gertie (better known has GG), and has been a favourite in our family for many years. I’m so happy to share it with you!
Shortcake For Berries Recipe
Ingredients:
1½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup white sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 pinch of salt
½ cup milk
1 egg
Directions:
- Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl and set aside.
- Combine the milk and egg and mix well.
- Add the milk and egg mixture to the dry ingredients.
- Pour mixture into one 8” round baking pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
- Let cool, top with whipped cream and your favourite berries and enjoy! This recipe freezes well if you want to make ahead and save for a later time.

can you put fruit(saskatoons, rhubarb, peach) in the bottom and bake like a cobbler?
I’ve had it at GG’s. It is delicious.
